Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information Sixhand collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Sixhand is a networking platform — we don't sell your personal data, and we don't act as your employer or a party to anything you arrange with other users (see our User Agreement).
1. Information we collect
- Account information: name, email, phone number (if you register or sign in with phone), and password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text).
- Profile information: headline, location, skills, work history, education, résumé/CV and other files you upload, and anything else you choose to add to your profile.
- Network information: the contacts you add, the relationship type and notes you attach to them, connection requests, and vouches you give or receive.
- Listings and applications: jobs, projects, or service requests you post, and any applications, messages, or trust-path data generated when you apply or are introduced.
- Messages: the content of messages and attachments you send through the Service.
- Sign-in data: if you use “Continue with Google” or “Continue with LinkedIn,” we receive your name, email, and profile photo from that provider, as permitted by your settings with them.
- Usage data: log data such as IP address, browser type, and pages viewed, used for security and to keep the Service running.
2. How we use your information
We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your data to serve you third-party advertising.
- To operate the Service: create your account, show you your network, compute trust paths, and let you post and discover listings.
- To facilitate introductions — e.g. showing you that you're reachable to a listing through a specific chain of contacts.
- To communicate with you about your account, security, and (only if you opt in) product updates.
- To maintain the security and integrity of the Service, including detecting fraud and abuse.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. What's visible to other users
Sixhand is built around controlled visibility: your profile and listings are generally visible to people within your trust network (direct contacts and the people they can introduce you to), not to the general public or unconnected strangers. You control your relationship notes, permissions (e.g. “can introduce” vs. “ask first”), and what you choose to share in your profile.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for authentication (keeping you signed in) and to remember your preferences. See our Cookie Policy for details.
5. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain it by law.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can manage most of this directly from your account settings, or reach us via Send Feedback.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures (such as encrypted connections and hashed passwords) to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.
9. International transfers
Your information may be processed in a country other than the one you live in. Where required, we take steps to ensure an adequate level of protection for information transferred internationally.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated before they take effect.
